Rome, Italy - Minister of State for International Development and Diaspora, Neale Richmond TD, today (Thursday 10 July) attended the Ukraine Recovery Conference 2025 in Rome.
This annual conference brings together Governments, international organisations, financial institutions, businesses, regions, municipalities and civil society, united by a shared commitment to strengthen Ukraine’s resilience. The conference also showcases Ukrainian reform progress in the context of its economic resilience and EU accession process.
Minister Richmond said: “I welcome today’s conference as a key annual event bringing
together a diverse range of stakeholders focussed on supporting Ukraine’s recovery and reconstruction. As Russia continues to escalate its war of aggression through its relentless assaults on Ukrainian cities and critical infrastructure, it is more important than ever that we stand united in support of Ukraine. At such a critical time, it is incumbent on all of us to say more, do more and spend more to ensure that Ukraine gets the supports it needs now and into the future.”Delivering Ireland’s national statement, Minister Richmond underlined Ireland’s commitment to maintaining its multifaceted support for Ukraine, including for its recovery and reconstruction.
He said: “Every day, more and more innocent lives are lost through Russia’s brutal actions. Every day, the cost of recovery grows.
“We must remember that rebuilding Ukraine is at its heart a story about lives and livelihoods.
“Ireland is committed to supporting Ukraine’s reconstruction and path towards membership of the European Union, including in the context of our upcoming Presidency of the Council of the European Union next year.
“Working together with Ukraine and our EU and international partners present here today, we will work to ensure that a free, independent and prosperous Ukraine is firmly anchored in its European path.”
