Completion milestones to be celebrated in four counties
The Minister for Culture, Communications and Sport, Patrick O’Donovan TD, has today praised the progress of the National Broadband Plan, as October will see county completion milestones achieved in the counties of Roscommon, Wexford, Louth and Cavan. The rollout
of the National Broadband Plan to these counties represents some 70,000 homes, farms and businesses that can now connect to high-speed fibre broadband with more than €260 million in Government investment. These county milestones form part of the wider National Broadband Plan, a €2.7 billion Government intervention. The completion of the main network build in Roscommon, Wexford, Louth and Cavan represents another significant step towards the nationwide completion of the project, which remains on schedule for completion by the end of 2026.
Speaking today, Minister O’Donovan said:
“This October, the National Broadband Plan reaches another key turning point, with events taking place in Roscommon, Wexford, Louth and Cavan to mark the completion of the main network build. These closeout milestones celebrate delivering high-speed, reliable fibre access to thousands of rural households, farms, and businesses."
“Comparable in scale to the historic rural electrification project, the National Broadband Plan is proving its value with expanding coverage and higher-than-expected user take-up. The core infrastructure rollout remains strictly on schedule for completion by the end of 2026, on time and within budget, ensuring equal digital access for every community in rural Ireland.”
