Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Martin Heydon TD, and Minister of State with responsibility for Fisheries at the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Timmy Dooley TD, have today announced that payments have commenced under the Fishing and Aquaculture Registered Vessel Fuel Support Scheme.

“I am delighted that the first tranche of payments valued at €1.5 million have now commenced issuing to over 100 vessel owners, and they will receive the money into their bank accounts in the coming days.”
This is the first tranche of payments to vessel owners and further payments will continue throughout August. It is expected that the total final payments under this scheme will be approximately €9.7 million. However, this remains subject to change pending completion of the final checks prior to issuing payment.
Concluding, Minister Heydon said:
“Bord Iascaigh Mhara are operating the schemes on behalf of my Department and I would encourage anyone who has yet to respond to requests and letters of offer to please do so to allow their claim to be processed.”
In addition to the above scheme, The Aquaculture Business Vessel Fuel Support Scheme, for those not required to be on the Irish Sea Fishing Boat Register was launched on 24 June and closed for applications on 8 July. As this scheme is being implemented under the Temporary Crisis Framework set up by the EU Commission and all applicable State Aid Rules, payments will only be made to applicants once State Aid approval has been received by the Department.
