As Seachtain na Gaeilge approaches, the Office of Public Works (OPW) is excited to announce a series of events and tours ‘as Gaeilge’ at various locations throughout the country. This initiative aims to promote and celebrate the Irish language and culture, offering visitors a unique experience.
Visitors will have the opportunity to take tours 'in Irish' at various OPW locations
including Áras an Uachtaráin, Casino Marino, Custom House Visitors Centre, Dublin Castle, Kilkenny Castle, Kilmainham Gaol Musuem, National Botanic Gardens, Pearse Museum, Rathfarnham Castle and Royal Hospital Kilmainham.Visitors will have the opportunity to participate in free Irish tours at OPW locations, guided by knowledgeable staff who will share interesting insights and stories in our native language. From historical buildings to breath-taking locations, these tours offer a valuable cultural experience for all who attend.
Chairman of the Office of Public Works, John Conlon said:
"Seachtain na Gaeilge is the largest celebration of Irish language and culture and what better way to honour our native language than to visit OPW heritage locations during this celebration. The OPW is delighted to play its part in Seachtain na Gaeilge to ensure individuals, groups and families can experience some of our heritage attractions through the Irish language."
