EU Career Opportunities in focus at Higher Options 2025

Minister of State for European Affairs and Defence, Thomas Byrne TD, will promote future EU career opportunities available to Leaving Certificate students at the Irish Times Higher Options expo.

Speaking at a panel discussion on Thursday, 18 September, at 2:30pm on “Career Opportunities in Europe,” Minister Byrne will highlight the diverse roles available to Irish

graduates across EU institutions — from law and economics to technology, climate, and international affairs — underlining the Government’s support through the A Career for EU strategy.

Minister Byrne will also visit the EU Careers stand (Stand No. 1), where students can learn about entry routes into EU institutions, the importance of languages, and the scholarships and training available from the Government to help Irish students succeed in EU recruitment competitions.

Minister Byrne said: “Working for the EU offers Irish people a chance to shape Europe’s future. I want to encourage students to think beyond the Leaving Cert and see the EU as a place where they can make a real impact on climate change, digital innovation, human rights and more.”

Over 30,000 students are expected to attend the three-day event, Ireland’s largest education and careers expo.
