DSP/AsIAm Employment Event
On Wednesday, 8 October the Department of Social Protection, in partnership with AsIAm – Ireland’s Autism Charity, will host a Careers Fair to support Autistic jobseekers in accessing employment opportunities and engaging with inclusive employers. This joint event is being held in The Riasc Centre, Swords with a specific focus on autistic jobseekers. Supports and guidance will be available on the day from AsIam, Ibec, Employers for Change and the Irish Centre for Diversity. Other employers recruiting include Diageo, Public Jobs, ESB, AXA/RSA Insurance and Irish Life.
Commenting on the event, Adam Harris, CEO of AsIAm said:
“Employment is one of the biggest equality gaps facing our community. Too often, Autistic people who want to work and who have valuable skills to contribute are excluded due to inaccessible recruitment practices and workplace barriers. Through events like this Careers Fair, we want to showcase the talent that exists within our community and work with employers to build environments where Autistic people can thrive. Our message is simple – with the right understanding and support, every Autistic person deserves the Same Chance to work.”
Other events taking place include a job fair in Cavan, a disability and information recruitment event in Galway and an apprenticeship event in Limerick.
Information on the full range of events open to the public and how to register to attend is available at www.Gov.ie/WorkandSkills.
