Ireland - The Tánaiste, Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade, Simon Harris TD and Minister of State for International Development and Diaspora, Neale Richmond TD will visit the National Ploughing Championships this week. The event takes place from Tuesday 16 September to Thursday 19 September at Screggan, Tullamore, Co Offaly.
The Tánaiste will visit the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade marquee in the Government of Ireland village on Wednesday 17 September. The Tánaiste said: “I am delighted to attend the National Ploughing Championships this year and I very much look forward to visiting the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade - Global Ireland marquee.
“Ploughing is a wonderful opportunity to showcase the breadth of the Department’s work as
well as sharing information on our citizen services, particularly our passport and consular services. The quickest, easiest and cheapest way to apply for your own passport as well as your child’s passport is online, that includes first passports for new-born babies. We will also share top tips on staying safe while travelling abroad.“You will also find information on Ireland’s upcoming Presidency of the Council of the European Union in 2026, working in the EU, and an update on Government’s Global Ireland strategy.”
Minister Richmond said: “The National Ploughing Championships is an unrivalled opportunity to speak directly with people about Ireland’s work around the world. Aid and development cooperation are central to that work. The Global Ireland marquee will give people the opportunity to find out more about how Irish Aid is assisting the world’s most vulnerable people, including the many millions of farmers who struggle to grow crops and provide for their families. At a time of such unprecedented need around the world, this is a valuable opportunity for people to learn more about the life-saving work they as Irish citizens are contributing to.”
The Global Ireland marquee will be located in the Government of Ireland village at the National Ploughing Championships 2025. The marquee includes exhibits on:

- Ireland’s expanded global footprint under the Global Ireland Strategy
- Irish Aid
- TravelWise: ‘Make the Right Memories’ Consular Services
- ‘Don’t be that person and Apply Online’ Passports Service
